A Birthday to Cerebrate

On July 8th this dashing kiddo celebrated his 3rd birthday! We were beyond excited to celebrate Caden's birthday. This kid is constantly blowing away all expectations. Caden was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). An individual with EB lacks a critical protein that binds the layers of skin together. Without this protein, the skin tears apart, blisters and sheers off, leading to severe pain, disfigurement, and wounds that never heal. EB affects the body inside and out. Blisters occur all over the body, as well as in the eyes, mouth, esophagus, and other internal organs. When SCH rescued Caden, the doctors told us that he wouldn't live to see his 1st birthday. We value every day we get to spend with this awesome kid. We are so happy that our baby boy is growing up so fast.

To celebrate our little prince’s birthday he got all dressed up in his new outfit and took tons of photos! He looked like a little model with his smoldering looks that he kept giving. After taking photos he and his foster family went inside for his cake cutting! Everyone sang happy birthday to him and he did his side-eye smile the entire time. Then in typical Caden fashion he refused to eat the cake but did drink the mango juice.

After nap-time, Caden, Cara, and Julie headed out to the movie theater to see Cars 3. These kids love popcorn and soda... maybe even more then they liked the movie. About 30 minutes in Julie finally looked up from her popcorn, pointed at the screen, and said “cars”. Her foster moms burst out laughing as she finally realized that there was something else going on in the dark room beside her popcorn!

After the movie the gang went to TGIFridays. There was loud music playing and Cara and Caden danced to it the entire time! Caden is known for his love of mango, so they got him a mango smoothie that he devoured. The three musketeers had a blast on their outing to the mall, and Caden had a great birthday celebration with his siblings!

Caden got a photobook for his birthday. Inside it contains lots of photos of him and all his people in India. We hope and pray for his adoption every day, and when he does get adopted, we don't want him to forget all the people who have love him, care for him, and fought for him to see his third birthday. Caden's life isn't perfect, but at the end of the day, it is surrounded by so many people here who care about him. There is always happiness and joy to be found in Anchor Home.

Did you know that a child living with EB can cost a family in the USA up to $14,000 a month? Caden is one of our most expensive children, and we are currently seeking a monthly donor of $40 to complete his sponsorship. You too can be a part of Caden's life by becoming a child sponsor. Your contribution will go towards making sure that this kid celebrates many more birthdays in the future.
