I cannot believe my little boy turned two today! It seems like not that long ago we celebrated his first birthday and he couldn’t even sit up on his own yet. He has made so much progress over the past year and he is quickly losing his baby face.

In honor of Caden’s second birthday we all went to see Finding Dory. And by all I mean seven kids, five adults, plus some friends from the middle floor of Rescue Home. I have never taken my entire house out at the same time and it was quite the feat but we managed. It’s hard to find something that everyone can participate in with such varying ages and different needs. But everyone can watch a movie and Finding Dory was a great movie with a really good message for the special needs community. Getting into the movie theater however was quite humorous as the stroller I brought for Thomas was broken. So I was walking through the crowded mall holding Caden, trying to push a broken stroller, and make sure all my caregivers were going in the right direction. India sure has taught me how to have a sense of humor!

After the movie we headed back home for cake. Caden has a major sweet tooth and ate so much cake he had a major cake belly going on. Indian cake is on the soggy side but that didn't bother Caden as it makes it easier to eat when you’re teeth are still working on coming in! He might have accidentally gotten a few more blisters today than usual but it’s worth it for the birthday memories!

Oh Caden. This little boy has stole a major piece of my heart. All birthdays are special but Caden’s are even more special to me as so many kids with his condition, epidermolysis bullosa, pass away at a young age, especially when they are born in conditions like he was. His doctor told me in May that they never though he would make it this long but yet he is thriving. He had a rough first half of 2016 with infections but we’re hoping and praying that we got them under control. This sweet little boy is such a fighter and amazes me daily with just how strong he is.

Caden, here’s to the terrific twos and many more hugs and snuggles. My life wouldn’t be the same without your smile and eye batting to get the last bite of my food. My biggest prayer is that your next birthday will be with your forever family and that you can amaze them with your ability to put away cake. I love you babu!

Caden is our precious boy in Anchor Home who has Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare skin condition that causes the skin to blister easily and can cause widespread infection. Celebrating Caden's second birthday was a HUGE milestone, as most kids with EB never make it past their first birthday.
