RECEPTION & REHABILITATION

In India, children with disabilities are the most likely to be abandoned. When a child is found abandoned they are taken to local government run orphanages. Often times these orphanages are overrun, under-staffed and under-funded, making the child susceptible to neglect or abuse. We work with the local government to bring children out of the government orphanages and into our care homes where they can receive the quality medical, emotional and spiritual care they deserve in a loving family-style setting.

REUNIFICATION & ADOPTION

Family is foundational. We believe family is the most critical need of all children and that every child belongs in a family of their own. Our first response once a child comes into our care is to see whether or not the child is able be reunited with their biological family. We work with the government to trace birth families and pursue reunification. For children who have been orphaned or are unable to be reunited with their family, we pray for adoption. We work alongside adoption agencies to ensure that every child is able to get a second chance at a loving family.

LONG-TERM CARE

For our  young adults who have aged out of the opportunity to be reunited or adopted, we are committed to being their family for the rest of their lives. Our young adults participate in a vocational program where they are able to make jewelry, crafts, and handmade goods to sell. More than that, our programs for our young adults encourage their independence and foster a sense of self-determination, autonomy, and confidence while also supporting them in the pursuit of their dreams.

EMPOWERING LOCALS

SCH employs over 130 local Indian staff in a variety of support and management roles. We rely daily on our amazing team of caregivers, nurses, security guards, and admin staff. We seek to build stronger communities in Hyderabad and Ongole by offering employment opportunities.
